Stephen Gardiner is Professor for the Department of Philosophy and holds the Ben Rabinowitz Endowed Professor in Human Dimensions of the Environment in the College of the Environment, both at the University of Washington, Seattle. He received his bachelor degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Hertford College at the University of Oxford. He earned his M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and his doctorate from Cornell University. His areas of specialization are ethics, environmental ethics, and political philosophy.
